From the Desk of...

Debra Johnson, Executive Director

In June 2009 PCHA’s Board of Commissioners set forth the Authority’s goals as part of the agency’s Five Year Strategic Plan.  I’m delighted to share with you highlights of our accomplishments:

  • Implemented a new Family Self-Sufficiency program for participants in the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program
  • Reignited the HCV Homeownership Program for eligible HCV participants
  • Opened a new Homeownership Resource Center to provide County-wide homeownership and 1st time home-buyer information
  • Received an excellent audit report for fiscal year ended 2009 with no financial or compliance findings and no internal control weaknesses
  • Implemented the Home Share Pinellas program in cooperation with the Tarpon Springs Housing Authority
  • Received designation as a Green Business Partner by the Pinellas County Extension and the University of Florida Extension for our work in implementing green practices throughout our agency
  • Provided assistance to Pinellas Hope to help assist the homeless
  • Designated again by HUD as a High Performer

We’ve also been able to create employment opportunities, both within our organization and through our contractors.  We finished our fiscal year strong, providing jobs and saving resources. Along the way we have built countless positive relationships with our community partners and organizations that we come in contact with in the course of business . . . and we are very thankful to them for their support and for all that they do.

Looking back, we had many accomplishments in year one of our strategic plan.  Yet each day, as families and individuals reach out to us for help, we are reminded of the purpose of our existence and our mission as a public housing agency, and we realize that we have much more work to do.  Therefore, as we move forward to year two, we will continue our momentum toward increasing the availability of housing for people in need, while providing opportunities for self-sufficiency and maintaining our current housing in a way that assures sustainable, livable communities for our residents.

Thank you for visiting our website.  Please check back regularly for updates on our programs and activities.

Sincerely,

Debbie Johnson
